Women's Health Physical Therapy
Residency Program Goals

  • To advance the practice of women's health physical therapy by increasing the knowledge and clinical skills of qualified residents.
  • To develop and maintain an excellent curriculum that addresses all areas specified in the DSP/DACP for women's health.
  • To advocate for women's health physical therapy clients through marketing and other public relations.
  • To expand the practice of women's health by training residents in all areas of clinical operation.

Mission of Women's Health Physical Therapy Residency Program

To prepare a physical therapist to effectively and efficiently evaluate and treat women who present with urogynecological signs and symptoms through a comprehensive educational experience. This experience includes but is not limited to a didactic study and examination, surgery observation, and self study; followed by presentation of the acquired knowledge in case reports, powerpoints, educational handouts, and marketing materials. In addition, the resident who seeks specialization in this area will first observe patient care, and then slowly progress to being able to evaluate and treat patients who present with urogynecological diagnoses, as well as participate actively in daily clinical operations, marketing and public relations, research, and advocacy for the client.
